The Buddha Master also emphasized certain writings that should be mastered and followed by anyone wanting to receive a tantric initiation and dharma transmission in the answer given to Question Number 5 given by the Holy Virtuous Ones and Eminent Monastics at the Inquiry Center of the World Buddhism Association Headquarters during the 2018 Chinese New Year. Certain sutras & commentaries to be mastered are also listed in an earlier Blog.
The Buddha Master said, “I must seriously tell and inform you, holy virtuous ones. You have to study well the book Learning from Buddha and the two great mind essences in The Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation and put what you learn into practice. This is extremely important!!! Otherwise whatever initiation [you receive] will be useless. When one’s karmic hindrances have been reduced, one will understand from reading Expounding the Absolute Truth through the Heart Sutra and awaken to the absolute truth therein. Also, one will thoroughly awaken to the Sutra on Understanding and Realizing Definitive Truth, the Diamond Sutra, and so on. With such a solid foundation, one will not have the slightest problem for receiving an initiation and dharma transmission.”
To date, only part of The Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation (SAUMOL) and the Diamond Sutra have been published in English. The SAUMOL includes the “128 Evil and Erroneous Views” that are being discussed weekly in this blog. Others have been made available in preliminary translations through seminars at The Xuanfa Five Vidyas Institute .
