Visit to Holy Heavenly Lake at Buddha Town, Hesperia, California

Sunlight sparkled like diamonds on the surface of Holy Heavenly Lake at Buddha Town in Hesperia when our retreat group visited it Saturday afternoon (August 28, 2021). One full lotus blossom towered over the leaves amidst many seed pods from earlier flowers. A cool breeze created an ideal setting for just sitting and contemplating all that we had been learning. Since most of the group arrived from North Carolina over a week ago we have been chanting our morning service every morning and reflecting on what we have learned from Buddha including the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation (SAUMOL) and other sources. We also held three classes every day where we read and discussed H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III’s sutra on Imparting the Absolute Truth through the Heart Sutra. On Friday we were able to actually meet with the Buddha Master and ask any questions we had and listen to a discourse on what we needed to do next.

I wanted to see the site that I hope to be able to develop as a resource for English-speaking students who want to follow the Buddha Master. I hope to have revised site plans to share in the near future. Right now it is a spacious stretch of sand and tumble weeds with mountains rising in the background and the dry Mojave River on one side. CLICK for more information on preliminary plans.
