Venerable Pannavati Karuna, MahaTheri, the abbot of the Heartwood Refuge Monastery has also founded the Correct Cultivation Learning from Buddha Academy in Hendersonville, North Carolina as part of an active monastic and lay community that offers in person and on-line studies of the preliminary discourses and published sutras of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. Although she has a group of novice and full Theravada nuns, she essentially offers a non-sectarian form of Buddha-Dharma that is applicable to Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana types of practice. She, herself, has received ordination and practiced in all three forms of Buddhism. The program offers a way to walk “a path to enlightenment through study, contemplation, self-inquiry, and the cultivation that leads to true accomplishment.”
In recent years she has ordained nuns in the Theravada tradition all over the world as shown in the above photo. She has also brought many lay and monastic practitioners to the Holy Vajrasana Temple and other events to hear and learn the holy Buddha-Dharma of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III including the Dharma Assembly held in Glendale, California last summer that celebrated the birthday of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and the publishing of three volumes of his teachings. Both she and Gongjue Rinpoche were interviewed at that assembly. CLICK for link to drumming event.
