This is just a warning. With the hopeful release of English translations of two important texts by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III soon, the availability of a preliminary translation of Imparting the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra at our temple, and the arrival of two new Chinese nuns (Fa-heng Shi and Fa-le Shi) as residents who aspire to understanding English, I am seriously considering restarting the Xuanfa Five Vidya University. I stopped it when I realized that we could not be effective without the availability of the discourses and texts of the Buddha Master in English. I also did not have the ability to make the program available to both English and Chinese students. We are hopeful. If we can, I want to make our next retreat, scheduled from February 7-14 a special seminar on Imparting the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra. If this is successful, we will schedule more. We have also scheduled two Sunday classes a month at the temple on this text starting January 19. Although I cannot do classes away from the temple on the actual text of the Heart Sutra itself, I have scheduled three classes at Hua Zang Si using discourses included in the epilogue of the text that explain how to realize prajna. I want to start using our “Seven Dharma System of Listening to Dharma Discourses” again, only adapt it to be able to use it to study the three Buddhist texts: Imparting the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra, The Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation (SAUMOL), and Learning From Buddha.
