We will start a program emphasizing first the Dharma Discourses and Sutras (Suttas) of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and of Shakyamuni Buddha, then the classic commentaries by the great Dharma Kings of ancient India and Tibet. This will be primarily an on-line distance learning and seminary program, focusing on cultivation and actual practice. We will strive to promote and encourage followers of all sects within Buddhism from the Theravada, Mahayana, or Vajrayana traditions as well as non-Buddhists who sincerely cultivate themselves to become more virtuous and holy beings by practicing morality and concentration (meditation) and thus developing their wisdom. Any sincere student can enroll as an Occasional Student and take or audit classes but you would need to take refuge and practice as a Buddhist to complete either the certificate or Master’s programs in the college or train in the seminary to become Dharma Masters and have your own temples and centers. Anyone can enroll in the certificate program, but you would need an acceptable undergraduate degree from a university recognized by the US Department of Education (DOE) to receive the Master’s degree.
Credit will be given for appropriate classes held as part of our Lemonade Sangha programs and previously as part of the Xuanfa Five Vidya University (XFVU). We stopped XFVU because we did not have access to English translations of many of the Dharma Discourses or Sutras by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and did not have the methods for sharing them. We still need formally approved translations, but now have enough and are able to use preliminary translations to start this program. We recognize that we will need to offer correct approved translation when they are available, but do not want to wait another minute to make what we do have available and use our now available technology to offer these gifts to all who have the karmic affinity to receive them. Thus, starting this Saturday at our usual Saturday Dharma Discourse, we will introduce that discourse as part of one of the College and Seminary for Learning from Buddha offerings.
A more detailed brochure and website will be forthcoming that will explain this more fully.
