Temple Flooded

Every summer we get snow runoff twice a month from the Sierras in the form of “flood irrigation.” It never rains in Central California in the summer so it is essential. This time a 90-year old neighbor decided he wanted a little more water so he opened up the irrigation pipe again, but he forgot to turn if off and no one noticed until the field next to the temple was under about a foot of water, our pond was running over onto Ashland Avenue, and my car was stranded behind the temple. The neighbors who manage our irrigation came and started pumping the field where they could, but their pump broke down and it looked like I would not be able to drive to southern California for classes as I had planned.

Good neighbors who rescued my car and brought in a pump to help get the water moved.
