After the internet crashing, I did not think we would have an Open Mike again this week, but it came back in time to proceed and resulted in an excellent session, as they usually are. For those of you who were not there I will share some of the items we discussed. We started with a question on what are the unconditional dharmas? Is your Buddha-Nature unconditional? This progressed into how we apply our dharma to our practice. That proceeded to a discussion on what we had studied the previous weekend when some of us read Imparting the Absolute Truth through the Heart Sutra. I asked and received a working definition of the 7th or manas consciousness along with more on marvelous existence. What we come back to is that developing bodhichitta is the best method for all. There was more, but this gives you an idea.
We did have an adorable distraction as Reba was baby sitting an abandoned peachick. The mother peahen (He and Uma have many, many peacocks–CLICK for more on my annual trip to Sonora to see the new crop) couldn’t help this baby who was the runt of four siblings. We threatened to mute his video, but Lucky, the scene stealer, finally went to sleep. I will miss going to Sonora this year.
Several of the participants discussed how they integrated the various cultivation practices into their daily activities. We often come back to this. I finally remembered I had outlined the various conditional and unconditional dharmas described in the Prajna Paramita Sutras, which I shared with the group and explain in another article.
