We met this morning to share how we were managing our lives in this Age of the Covid-19 Virus. We also shared some of the lemonade moments that we were experiencing and asked questions about dharma matters and our practice. Slowly we are learning how to navigate the complexities and opportunities that the internet and the Zoom platform offers us to connect with fellow Buddhist practitioners around the world.
I was amazed to hear that Vietnam has not had a single death from the virus and only 258 confirmed cases and 144 recovered. We, on the other hand, have 532,000 cases and almost 17,000 deaths and only 31,900 recovered. I must report that when I was in Vietnam a few years ago, I was very ill and had to go to a clinic-hospital for help and the level of medical treatment and the confidence I had in the professionals I met there, I have not found in the US. And that was with me not understanding or speaking any Vietnamese. So much for American leadership.
We will continue holding these Saturday open mikes as long as the need exists and there are people who are interested in coming. Our membership doubled this time, but it is still a small enough group so that everyone can share. Please join up next week at 9:00 am Saturday morning, April 18. You only need to register once to be part of the group. Please CLICK to register and get instructions on how to join the group.
