Erroneous Views Concerning Illness

If you are ill, you must cultivate yourself, request empowerment and Buddhist pills, seek medical help, and take appropriate medicine. You should not just rely on the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and empowerment.

Erroneous View #9:  THE VIEW THAT YOUR ILLNESS WILL BE CURED BY REQUESTING EMPOWERMENT AND WITHOUT CULTIVATING YOURSELF
Those with this view think that without cultivating themselves their illness will still be cured just by requesting and relying upon empowerment from the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas or their master. Such thinking is incorrect. One must cultivate oneself. One should cultivate oneself, request empowerment, and take medicine. By doing all these, one’s illness can be cured.

Erroneous View #10: THE VIEW THAT BUDDHIST PILLS CAN CURE ALL ILLNESSES
Those with this view think that various pills such as long life pills, supreme treasure pills, great treasure pills, vajra pills, and nectar pills can cure all illnesses. This is nonsense that you should not accept. This view violates the law of cause and effect. If you accept it, you fall into an erroneous view. It is true that I have many kinds of Buddhist pills. Moreover, all of them are genuine. Among them, several kinds of greatly holy treasure pills indeed have great empowerment powers. However, they definitely do not cure all illnesses.

Erroneous View #53:  THE VIEW THAT ONE WHO IS ILL NEED NOT TAKE MEDICINE
Those with this view think, “We who learn Buddhism should not take medicine when we fall ill. That is because we rely on the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and the empowerment of the Buddha-dharma to cure our illnesses.” This is incorrect and is an erroneous view.

See article on the illness of Bodhisattvas.

  • Appreciated On This Good Written Article. The Problems Were On The Cultivation Or Conviction Without The Proper “Dharma”. In His H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Published Dharma Book On “Learning From The Buddha”. It Typically Told That Cultivation Or Conviction MUST Process Together With The Dharma. No Place Or Proper Channel To Study & Learn The Proper Dharma Rules & Executions……. what Should I Do…….?

    • Thank you for your sincere comments. Can you read or understand Chinese? Since you have read “Learning From Buddha” I am assuming you can since it is not yet available in Engish. I believe you are in Malaysia. If so, we do have Dharma Centers in Singapore and perhaps closer to where you live. If you wish I will try and find such a place. Just email me your address and circumstances (languages, availability, etc.) at zhaxiz@gmail.com. If you can go there, they can help you listen to the recorded Dharma Discourses in Chinese and perhaps arrange for you to meet any visiting Rinpoches who can transmit dharma to you. Listening to and understanding these Discourses is a requirement for receiving the higher dharmas as is your cultivation. If you can only or better understand English, I will explain more in a future blog, but you can learn a lot from our temple’s website at http://holyvajrasana.org/. Much of that website is also available in Chinese at http://holyvajrasana.org/zh/.

  • Thanks Very Much On Reply & Assistance…..I’m In Touch With The H.H. Dorje Chaong Buddha III Dharma Listening Center In My Nation’s Capital City, Which Was About 100KM Away From Home. The Situation Was i m Obligated Full Time To ‘Watch Over’ My Aged Mother At Home. She Refuses To Travel Except A Monthly Trip To Her So Called “Spiritual Center” Of About 50KM Away…… The Buddha-Dharma Are Very Precious. Maybe I Do Not Have The Good Fortunes Or The Time Not Mature Yet…….
