When I heard that the young coach had been a monk and had the boys meditate while trapped in their watery cave in Thailand, I could understand how it could happen. He kept them calm and conserve their energy and air. I just watched a video on BBC from the hospital where these young, brave heroes expressed their thanks to everyone who helped bring them out. The stories from the British cave divers who were among those who rescued these boys are wonderful. I am sure we will hear many more. One of the Thai Navy Seals gave thanks to the Buddha and said this is a holy cave. I cannot imagine American boys being so calm. Their training and that of their leader is outstanding. The excellent BBC article stated that the coach and boys will shave their heads and become monks for awhile. This is a common Thai tradition. Even the king did this. I wanted to dedicate merit and this week’s blog to all of them and to the young Navy seal who died in their rescue. They showed the world the power of the Buddha’s teachings. Many blessings. Thank you for sharing the BBC article. The team of rescuers were truly heroes! Most of all, the prayers were heard and answered.
