It has been said that some people who are not proficient in the Five Vidyas are still Bodhisattvas, but how can this be? Just being kind, doing good deeds, and being generous with others is good practice and should be appreciated, but it does not make someone a Bodhisattva, and certainly not a Great Bodhisattva like Kuan Yin (who is actually an ancient Buddha). Bodhisattvas possess holy wisdom power that is manifested in their attainments in the Five VIdyas. The sutras say that the Five VIdyas are attained by Bodhisattvas and that a Buddha has perfected all of them. There are very few such people on earth, although there are many who claim such titles or whose disciples elevate them to such positions Regarding anyone who is mediocre in the Five Vidyas as a Great Bodhisattva or a person of great holiness and virtue is an erroneous view.
