The internet has many negative articles falsely claiming that H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is wanted by the Chinese government for fraud. These stories are simply not true. It is true that there were charges brought against Him, but those charges were dropped and in 2008 INTERPOL (International Criminal Police Organization) rescinded an arrest warrant after the truth was revealed. It is a complex case of betrayal and intrigue and the theft of millions of dollars and is worthy of investigation and telling, but H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is the victim not the villain in this story as the media would leave you to believe. The Taiwan Times published a lengthly account of some of the story in 2016 that is translated below. CLICK for quote from the Buddha Master on why He has not publicly defended Himself.
Because the real villains were at very high levels and held powerful positions in China, their identities were not revealed for a long time. One was finally tried and sentenced to death with stay for embezzlement and corruption in 2010. Another, a former disciple of the Buddha Master named Wong Hiu Shiu, was also jailed for embezzlement of funds from the Master Wan Ko Yee (the name used by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III before He was recognized as a Buddha) Museum in Hong Kong that she was in charge of.
She also beclouded another disciple and wealthy benefactor, Lau Pak Hun, who had donated the money to establish the museum. Another disciple was also named as a victim of fraud by Master Wan Ko Yee. Both of these disciples issued statements that this was not so and that they had not only not been defrauded by, but fiercely defended and supported Master Wan Ko Yee. Even though Lau Pak Hun had been defrauded of more than 60 million Hong Kong dollars by Wong Hiu Shui, he testified that this was the work of a corrupt former disciple, not Master Yee. It can also be noted that originally, Mr. Lau Pak Hun had wanted to give the donation directly to his master, but Master Wan Ko Yee had refused the gift.
On December 8, 2013, Lau Pak Hun spoke publicly at a press conference in Hong Kong explaining what happened. I was present at that press conference and can personally testify to these facts. This press conference was held to rebuke salacious charges published earlier in 2013 in the Hong Kong based Phoenix Weekly, a sensational weekly news magazine distributed primarily in mainland China. In February 2014, the Asian Newsweek published a detailed and lengthly article countering each of the arguments raised by the Phoenix Weekly.
