Dharma Assembly Whereby We Seek Blessings and Protection from Disasters and to Release the Dead From Suffering

Several of you have lost family, friends, and other loved ones over the past year or years and have asked me what to do. I have always responded with the suggestion that you could recite The Buddha Speaks of Amitabha Sutra and then dedicate the merit of reciting that sutra to the deceased, praying that he or she be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Amitabha. I have also offered to include the name of the deceased in the dedication of merit we do at the temple as part of our daily services. For the past several years, we have also performed certain ceremonies requesting blessings and empowerment for both the dead and the living (in Chinese) upon request.

With the help of Gesang Yixi Qupei Rinpoche, Benxin Chiren Rinpoche,  Jue Hui Fa shih, and others, I now have the ceremony that they have used at Hua Zang Si for these dharma assemblies translated into English and modified for our use at the Holy Vajrajana Temple. With the help of the nuns staying at the temple and those who attend the year end retreat we will conduct the same ritual on December 29 this year, starting at 9:00 am.  This event will be open to all who wish to attend. If you wish to petition for blessings or to avoid disasters for yourself or anyone else and/or request that anyone you know who has left this world be released from suffering and have an auspicious rebirth, you may so request by sending their names to The Xuanfa Institute, PO Box 272, Sanger, CA 93657.
