We finished Lesson 28 today and LFBCS class DCB24 and these words from the Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra, “With nothing to attain, therefore, . . . ”. The following are some of the questions addressed during this ZOOM session:
What is the prerequisite for transforming external objects and acquiring great utilization?
“The prerequisite for transforming external objects and acquiring great utilization is realizing the reality of true emptiness that is prajna. Once you realize the truly perfect and unhindered state, you will naturally enter it. However, what is more important is that you must cultivate yourself in accord with the Dharma. Only by cultivating yourself in accord with the Dharma will you be able to reach such realization. Otherwise, the truths of prajna that are being expounded will still be empty theories. In the end, people who do not put theories into practice will be unable to combine theory with the manifestation of reality.”
The Buddha Master also talked about the Jade Emperor, which prompted questions about just who this heavenly being is. CLICK for article on the Jade Emperor for background. He also told us stories about Geluk Master Dongben, the Holy Guru at “The Festival Exposing Images of Buddhas to the Sun,” and the two suns appearing in Xing Garden as well as about cultivating humility and gratitude to all the many living beings who help us.
Be sure and enroll in DCB25-Expounding the Absolute Truth through the Heart Sutra: Part TWO-III, if you want to join our long term study of the Heart Sutra or the broader study of C41(A)-the Three Principle Stages & Paths of Buddhist Practice. There is an expanded article on C41(A) that explains its scope and content, which was discussed before starting DCB24 last Saturday. CLICK for video of that discussion and revised maps of this roadmap to C41(A). DCB24 is one of the Learning from Buddha College & Seminary (LFBCS) courses that are included in C41(A). There is also another article that discusses G03(A) and G03 Evolution of Buddhism, two additional courses that are also part of C41(A).
